How To Assist The Engineers In Your Team To Develop New Skills While Monitoring Their Progress

Any cybersecurity engineer is qualified to take on the tasks they are assigned. But sometimes, their concurrent skills are not enough to handle all their assignments. In that situation, a project manager must provide all the necessary resources an individual can utilize to broaden their skill set.

While providing learning materials, the manager must be mindful of the fact that the resources must try something new with each lesson, which will keep the engineer curious and continuously learning.

Below is a detailed list of learning resources you can provide to one of your engineers as a project manager.

Coursera

Fun & Learning Activities

Keep 2 hours of Happy Hour on any weekday with both shifts separately. There you can arrange fun games, entertaining videos (Try to go for team building, negotiation, skills importance, and so on), and 1-hour open discussion within the team sharing their learning on a particular day.

Workshop

On a weekend, hold a workshop once a month, or at least once a quarter. It could be a day long and you can then do an outing for socialization.

Progress Monitoring

  • Their submitted tasks and report is likely the mirror of their skills. Find out the progress each time they submit the reports. Each week, share their KPI scores and provide their feedback, on where they need to work out.
  • Ensure that they do not repeat the same mistakes and if required, be strict on it and do not compromise with their learning curves and the improvement, even if they try to work around the whole process.
  • If someone, misses any course or is overdue for the course progress, stop assigning to the main case and ask them to complete the course. Be strict where you need to be, to make your project successful.
